The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is a government organ with a status of independent Department established specifically to facilitate the recruitment process of employees to the Public Service . Public Service Recruitment Secretariat was established by the Public Service Act No. 8 0f 2002 as amended by Act No. 18 of 2007, section 29(1)

The National Institute of Transport (NIT) was established by the National Institute of
Transport Act, No. 24 of 1982 cap 187 Revised Edition 2009 as an Autonomous Higher 
Learning Institution. It is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education 
(NACTE) with Registration number REG/EOS/009 of 2002. 

1.0.1 LECTURER - COMMUNICATION SKILLS (1 POST)
1.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA Level 9 (Master’s Degree);
ii. To guide and supervise students in research up to NTA Level 10 (PhD Degree);
iii. To prepare learning resources and design training exercises for students;
iv. To conduct consultancy and community services;
v. To develop and reviews existing curricula;
vi. To undertake individual research and participate in scientific/academic 
congregations;
vii. To prepare teaching manuals, simulations and case studies for training;
viii. To design and conduct short course programs;
ix. To carry out students’ academic assessment;
x. To coach junior teaching staff; and
xi. To perform any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisors.

1.0.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Doctorate (PhD) Degree specializing in Linguistics or 
Education in Language Management who is eligible for registration as a Technical 
Teacher or registered Technical Teacher, holder of Master’s Degree with G.P.A of not 
less than 3.8, plus three (3) years teaching experience and obtain at least Upper 
Second Class, and G.P.A not less than 3.5 at Bachelor Degree in respectively or above 
for unclassified degrees, overall average of not less than B grade from a recognized 
institution.
1.0.4 SALARY SCALE- PHTS 3.1.

1.0.5 ASSISTANT LECTURER - ENERGY SYSTEMS (1 POST)
1.0.6 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
i. To teach up to Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8 or equivalent);
ii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises;
iii. To conduct research, seminars and case studies;
iv. To carry out consultancy and community services;
v. To supervise students’ projects;
vi. To prepare teaching manual; and
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.7 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Master's Degree in Energy Systems with GPA not less 
than 3.8 and must be a holder of Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering with GPA 
not less than 3.5 or above for unclassified degrees, overall average of not less than B 
grade from a recognized institution.
1.0.8 SALARY SCALE- PHTS 2.1.

1.0.9 ASSISTANT LECTURER - LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT (1 POST)
1.0.10 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
i. To teach up to Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8 or equivalent);
ii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises;
iii. To conduct research, seminars and case studies;
iv. To carry out consultancy and community services;
v. To supervise students’ projects;
vi. To prepare teaching manual; and,
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor

1.0.11 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Master's degree in any of the following specializations, 
Logistics and Transport Management, International Transport and Logistics 
Management, International Logistics and Transport Management, Road Transport 
Management, Road and Rail Transport Management, Rail Transport Management, 
Maritime Logistics and Shipping Management, Air Transport Management, Rural and 
Urban Transport Management with GPA of not less than 3.8 and G.P.A not less than 
3.5 at Bachelor Degree in respectively or above for unclassified degrees, overall 
average of not less than B grade from a recognized institution.
1.0.12 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 2.1

1.0.13 ASSISTANT LECTURER - ELECTRONICS SCIENCES – (1 POST)
1.0.14 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up Bachelor Degree (NTA level 8 or equivalent) including assessment;
ii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial exercises;
iii. To conduct research, seminars and case studies;
iv. To carry out consultancy and community services under supervision;
v. To supervise students’ projects;
vi. To prepare teaching manual; and
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.15 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Master's degree in any of the following specializations,
Electronics Science, Embedded and Mobile Systems, Electronic Communication 
Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering with GPA not less than 3.8 and GPA not 
less than 3.5 at Bachelor Degree in respectively or above for unclassified degrees, 
overall average of not less than B grade from a recognized institution.
1.0.16 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 2.1

1.0.17 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - AIR TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT – (1 POST)
1.0.18 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and;
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.19 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) in Logistics and 
Transport Management Preferably with specialization in Air Transport Management with 
GPA not less than 3.5, and must have passes in Physics, Geography, Mathematics and 
English at CSEE.
1.0.20 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

1.0.21 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING (1 
POST)
1.0.22 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 
assistant in higher NTA Levels;
ii. To conduct tutorials for NTA 7;
iii. To assist in undertaking research;
iv. To administer examinations for NTA Level 6 Students;
v. To prepare learning resources;
vi. To assist in supervising field training;
vii. To develop and review curricula;
viii. To provide on the job training to junior staff;
ix. To review the maintenance plans;
x. To supervise subordinates;
xi. To uphold aviation maintenance standards;
xii. To supervise overhaul and testing of maintenance equipment’s and tools;
xiii. To issue technical drawing relating to maintenance of aircraft structure; and;
xiv. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor.

1.0.23 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering 
with GPA of not less than 3.5 or an overall average of not less than B grade or above 
for unclassified degree in respectively from any recognized Institution.

1.0.24 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - RECORDS AND ARCHIVES MANAGEMENT – (1 POST)
1.0.26 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
iv. To assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.27 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) in Public Administration 
in Records and Archives Management with GPA not less than 3.5 or an overall average 
of not less than B grade or above for unclassified degree in the respectively from any 
recognized Institution.
1.0.28 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

1.0.29 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - RAILWAY TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT – (1 POST)

1.0.30 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
iv. To assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and;
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.31 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) in Logistics and 
Transport Management Preferably with specialization in Rail Transport Management 
with GPA not less than 3.5 or an overall average of not less than B grade or above for 
unclassified degree in respectively from any recognized Institution.

1.0.32 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - NAVAL ARCHITECTURE - (1 POST)
1.0.34 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
iv. To assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and;
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.35 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) in Marine Engineering 
Technology with GPA not less than 3.5 or an overall average of not less than B grade or 
above for unclassified degree in respectively from any recognized Institution.
1.0.36 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

1.0.37 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT - COMPUTER PROGRAMMING – (1 POST)
1.0.38 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
iv. To assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.39 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree in any of the following specializations,
Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Science Engineering, Software 
Engineering, Information Security with GPA not less than 3.5 or above for unclassified 
degrees, overall average of not less than B grade from a recognized institution.

1.0.41 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – SHIP BUILDING – (1 POST)
1.0.42 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To teach up to NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma);
ii. To assist in conducting tutorial and practical exercises under close supervision;
iii. To prepare learning resources for tutorial and practical exercises;
iv. To assist in conducting research under close supervision;
v. To conduct assessments for students up to NTA Level 6;
vi. To carry out consultancy and community services under close supervision; and
vii. To perform any other duties assigned by Supervisor.

1.0.43 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) in Marine Engineering 
Technology with GPA not less than 3.5 or an overall average of not less than B grade or 
above for unclassified degree in respectively from any recognized Institution.
1.0.44 SALARY SCALE: PHTS 1.1

1.0.45 PILOT TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II (1 POST)
1.0.46 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To conduct pilot training which includes, ground training, flight training, Simulator 
base training, Route Proficiency Check and Instrument training;
ii. To assess flying competence of the trainee pilots being instructed and submit 
recommendations;
iii. To train pilots to become instructors;
iv. To ascertain compliance with safety requirements at all times during training;
v. To develop and review training programmes;
vi. To conduct examinations and submits results;
vii. To assist in undertaking research;
viii. To support conduction of research and consultancy works;
ix. To provide on the job training to junior staff; and
x. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor.

1.0.47 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should possess Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields; Aircraft 
Maintenance Engineering, Aerospace Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical 
Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering 
with a GPA of not less than 3.5; or an overall average of not less than B grade or above 
for unclassified degree in respectively from any recognized Institution. He/she must be 
able to communicate thoroughly in spoken and written English.
AGE LIMIT
Must not be older than 30 years at the time of application.
1.0.49 SALARY SCALE: PTSS 10

years of age except for the post of Pilot Tutor/Instructor II as indicated above and
those who are in Public Service and where specified;
