Our history
The Bank traces its origins to 1967 when the Tanzanian Government nationalised all financial institutions, including banks. In 1991, the banking industry was amended and six years later, in 1997, the institution then known as National Bank of Commerce, was split into three separate entities:
  • NBC Holding Corporation
  • National Microfinance Bank (NMB)
  • NBC (1997) Limited
In 2000, South African financial services group Absa Group Limited acquired a majority stake in NBC. The Government of Tanzania retained a 30% shareholding and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, took up 15% shareholding in the bank. The new entity became known as NBC Limited.

LEAD GENERATOR 

JOB PURPOSE
To achieve agreed sales targets in line with the business objectives through pro-active selling of Retail banking lending and deposit products and at the same time providing excellent customer service.

Job Description​

Accountability: Sales to Retail customers

  • Deliver exceptional sales performance by identifying and meeting customer needs through selling & cross selling of Bank’s consumer lending and deposit products.
  • Provide direct “hands on” sales support (quality lead generation and effective follow up) to generate and convert quality leads into sales.
  • Participate in sales campaigns to meet specific targets.
  • Maintain own sales performance statistics for management information usage.
  • Complete account opening and loan documentation together with customers in line with NBC Bank policies and requirements and submit to Line Manager/Team leader for review before submitting to operations for processing.
  • When selling loans to Retail customers, complete the financial analysis and statement review on customer accounts. Where customers do not meet the minimum criteria, advise the customer verbally or in writing as the customer requires. Report such denials to the Line Manager on a daily basis.
  • Check correctness of each new account application, loan document and all other customer documents.

Comply with general NBC Operational risk & Rigour requirements e.g. Health & Safety standards and security of premises, KYC and anti-money laundering regulations.

  • Lead Generators (LGs) are held personally accountable for accuracy and quality of these and supporting documents that they complete and submit.
  • Achieve operational rigour excellence in all aspects of procedures and processes personally undertaken to ensure green audit.
  • Follow the Retail end to end account opening ensuring new accounts are authorized and KYC compliant. Escalate any items that exceed the agreed service level time lines or where there are unresolved KYC requirements, to the Line Manager.

Comply with general NBC operational risk & rigour requirements e.g. Health & Safety standards and security of premises, KYC and anti-money laundering regulations.

Provisional Of Customer service

  • Refer to the appropriate department/ team leader any query for products outside his/her portfolio or queries within their products.
  • Advice customers as soon as new loans are approved and encourage draw-downs on the new loans and the same should be done for new accounts opened.

CONTRIBUTE TO DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEAM AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Share knowledge and experience with other Lead Generator in the team.
  • Deputize for the Line Manager whenever required.
  • Agree annual performance objectives with the Team Leader, including specific sales targets.

Pursue continued improvement in personal development by participating in development programmes and training


Qualifications

Job Description​

KIBAHA BRANCH

A :Agent On boarding / Lead Generation

  •       On board and process applications of Agents in line with NBC Bank policies and regulatory requirements submit to Line Manager for review before submitting for processing
  •       Delivering exceptional sales performance through daily sales activities to drive agent performance.
  •       All agent documentations are updated and stored properly
  •       Conducting Agent assessments according to the Operations Manual
  •       Deliver exceptional sales performance in Agency banking by identifying new and potential agents
  •       Participate in Agency banking sales campaigns to meet specific target
  •       Performing branding duties to ensure agents are properly branded and visible
  •      To ensure all agents operate at their agreed level, as per key agent indicators; For Example – Enough float, Registrations and transactions.
  •       Manage agent’s relationship with branches  and working direct with branch managers and branch sales team to ensure successful agent recruitment, support training objective are met to drive growth
  •        Supporting agent in sales and account opening to ensure customer accounts are opened as per account opening procedures.
  •        Performing any assigned task related to agency banking operations and sales
  •        Identify and recruit agents, targeting key business in their location as well as targeting top performing agents.
  •       To ensure POS and merchandising material are effectively distributed
  •       Provide weekly/ Monthly agent visit report as per agreed format
  •       Perform visit of all existing agents within your circuit at least once a month

      B :Agent Operations management

  •         Growing agent base within the assigned area
  •         Visiting agent portfolio as assigned and managing the agent network.
  •         Conversation of Non Transacting agents to transacting
  •         Supporting customer base on boarded through agents to fund the accounts
  •         Attending daily sales review meetings and perform the daily activities accordingly.
  •        Providing a weekly sales activity plan to Branch Manager and Agent banking head office team.
  •        Study and assess competitors activities on the ground through daily agent visits and capture useful information for feedback and improvement

C : Direct Sales

  •        Facilitating first-contact meetings with potential NBC Wakala
  •        Contact/visit the existing agents and new prospects to sell product and strengthen the relationship
  •        Daily planning of sales activities to ensure optimal utilization of allocated area/location to sell.

                D:  Branding and retention of agents    

  •        Visiting agents monthly within given vicinity
  •        Ensure that every on boarded agent is activated and branded accordingly

         having signage, tariff guide, user guide and log book)

  •       Let the agent know about new product or promotion 
  •       Respond to agents queries/ complaint accordingly

       Providing initial training to the agent.

H :Compliance and Risk Management:

  •        Ensure that planned training interventions take place, particularly for compulsory training. Attend all assigned training before deadline.
  •        Directly responsible for discipline - initiate misconduct or incapacity charges, follow NBC discipline processes together with HR.
  •        Attend all booked meetings.
  •        Share knowledge and experience with other LG in the Team
  •        Agree annual performance objective with team leader including specific target
  •        Pursue continues improvement in personal development by participating in development programs
  •        Display code of conduct and self-discipline

Other duties

  •       Participate in branch target Sales related activities
